RPost’s .NET API Helps Outlook Developers Add Email Tracking & Encryption

RPost is enabling Outlook developers to extend their apps with email tracking, legal proof, encryption, and e-signatures. These additions will ensure that users stay legally compliant with HIPAA, Sarbanes Oxley, and Gramm-Leach-Bliley. RPost's Outlook application is now offered packaged as a dynamic-link library (DLL) file that is executable by other Outlook add-ins and those offering Hosted Microsoft Exchange services. This was done to make it easy for developers to embed the RPost code into their software as a self-contained DLL triggered by the appropriate function within their software. This speeds the configuration and launch of more than 20 RPost messaging security, productivity, and collaboration services, without need for extensive programming and quality testing.
One of the first companies to adopt the new RPost .Net DLL is Esquire Innovations, a leader in document metadata management. Their app is used by thousands of lawyers worldwide. Esquire CEO Randall Farrar says, "We were able to trigger RPost's functionality at the logical point in the user experience within our software, greatly expanding the services that our platform provides. RPost provides us with placement in their Apps Marketplace to showcase the combined offering to the world, and routes download requests to us to manage."

Would Metadata Cleaning Spoil Your Evidence?

RPost’s latest integration with Esquire is called iScrub. This new product removes metadata from important “reusable” documents such as loan application forms. One of the questions raised by using a product like this is what effect metadata cleaning would have on evidence used in the courtroom. We asked RPost CEO Zafar Khan to weigh in on how metadata changes electronic documents and they effect that can have.

PerspecSys is a privately held company based in Toronto, Canada that specializes in eliminating the security barriers that inhibit enterprise companies from embracing cloud computing. Many companies want to move to the cloud for operational business purposes but are concerned about how to protect their mission critical data along the way. The PerspecSys solution allows organizations to encrypt or tokenize information before it leaves their environment, so they can make the move to the cloud knowing that their sensitive business data remains protected and in their control.

Startup Worlize Fills the Void Between Social Gaming and Virtual Worlds

Worlize fills the void between social gaming and virtual worlds. It’s a place of collaborative imagination. It’s a place where your world can be anything you want it to be and you can be whomever you want. It takes the best aspects of real-time avatar chat systems and mixes in the best new concepts from today’s hottest social platforms and games.
Social games like Farmville, Cityville, and The Sims Social are built on gameplay that's, quite honestly, nothing more than drudgery and grind. You click over and over again to perform menial tasks, and are forced to spam your friends at every turn to get ahead. Users who play those games put up with the irritating gameplay and spam in order to get to the creative part where they're decorating their farm, building their city, or designing their dream home - and you still can't chat with your friends when they visit your farm/city/home. Second Life offers a richly engaging 3d platform, but is overly complex and requires substantial 3d design skill and expensive software to really be able to create interesting custom content. With Worlize, we wanted to focus on the real-time social experiences and creative expression and make that accessible to anyone who can draw a picture or take a photo.

Turning Tablets into Mobile Workstations – Powered by the Cloud

Interview with Martin Frid-Nielsen, CEO of Soonr at AlwaysOn, Venture Summit in Half Moon Bay.
We are here to tell our story. Our biggest challenge is to continue to accelerate growth. When you talk about tablets and apps that enable the mobile workforce to be more productive, that's an easy sell. The challenge is to continue to spread the word. We are very excited about a new mobile app, Soonr Scribble, we just announced with Samsung for their new Galaxy Note device, a tablet that comes with a stylus. With Soonr Scribble, business users can easily annotate any document or file stored in the cloud with a stylus. So, for instance, if you receive a document for review, you can easily mark it up, highlight or redline it using the pen.

SOS Launches Low-cost, Total Data Protection System for VARS

SOS Online Backup [www.sosonlinebackup.com], the four-time PC Mag Editor's Choice winning online backup provider, today announced the launch of the first low-cost total data protection system for VARs, resellers and MSPs. The new cloud-based SOS ServerSave packages multiple high-speed backup and recovery systems under centralized management with military-grade security. Right now the typical VAR, reseller, or MSP has one solution for Microsoft Exchange, another for Windows servers and local backup, e.g. Bare Metal, a third for files and folders, still another for databases, and so on. SOS ServerSave ties all of these software packages together with Pulse - the IT management system for centralized control. By combining multiple services into a single, secure solution with centralized management, SOS partners can now drastically reduce both their software acquisition costs and administrative overhead.

Crowdsourcing Your Next Job

WikiOrgCharts.com just launched a new ‘smart' job and people search feature that aggregates web results and combines them with a visual of the company organization chart where the job is available. The new feature allows job seekers to see beyond Indeed listings and find connections through their LinkedIn and Facebook social networks for contacts who already work for the company they want a job from. Crowdsourced databases like LinkedIn and Crunchbeat get a lot of traffic and attention these days, but they still lack features that WikiOrgCharts addresses. WikiOrgCharts is the first web platform that allows users to pool their business contacts and to collaboratively map the relationships that exist within a company into an easy-to-access organizational chart. The HTML5 site allows org charts to be constructed, modified, searched and openly shared between Internet users, along with real-time social information from Twitter and other sources. Users that log into WikiOrgCharts using their Facebook or LinkedIn accounts bring their friends' and colleagues' information with them.

GSX Solutions Solves Major SharePoint Headaches

“For every dollar spent on licensing fees, companies in general have spent $6-$9 on third-party add-on tools and additional services for SharePoint.”
At the SharePoint conference, we sat down with Steve Bystran, SVP of GSX Solutions to ask how GSX Monitor and Analyzer solve the majority of SharePoint user headaches…
It is no secret that SharePoint has taken the world by storm - by early 2008, SharePoint sold about 100 million licenses and currently in the UK and Ireland, SharePoint is found in 78% of companies that use collaboration software! Obviously, there isn't anything inherently wrong with SharePoint from the standpoint of IT directors who purchase them, but its poorly managed imposition on its end users is causing a resistance. It has been difficult for a number of companies to transition to SharePoint's new enterprise information management approach and for enterprises that had existing collaboration software; the main issue was SharePoint's proper integration to the system. There's simply a disconnect on what SharePoint is and its proper utilization.

GSX Solutions Just Launched the GSX 360

Can you please briefly describe the role of GSX 360?
Eileen Fitzgerald, Senior Vice-President for Customer Delivery and Product Management: GSX 360 was created to simplify the processing of standard service requests for enterprise messaging servers. These requests meet the following criteria:
Right or wrong implementation (no grey areas), can be structured, can have default values, and can be delegated.
While the processing of standard service requests can be routine, they tend to require considerable technical and organizational knowledge to fulfill. For example, in processing individuals, you may need to know the applicable server, the standard password strength, and the default group to which they belong.

WeVideo Redefines Online Video

WeVideo just kicked off the first cloud-based social editing solution provider, sign up for open beta available now. We talked to CEO Jostein Svendsen to find out more about this new SaaS.
Basically, YouTube is for publishing while WeVideo is for editing videos. WeVideo is the perfect complement to YouTube. One of the problems on YouTube today is that a lot of the videos have not been edited, which is largely because of the cost and complexity associated with the available editing tools on the market. WeVideo is an easy and affordable way for anyone to edit their videos before uploading to YouTube or any other online video sharing site.

GSX Monitor: How to Optimize Technical Resources

In our current economy, companies are continuing to look for ways to cut costs. As witnessed by a number of enterprises, GSX Monitor and Analyzer assists organizations in accomplishing this goal by offering an immediate and substantial return on investment.
CIO’s face a number of challenges: First and foremost, infrastructure costs must be minimized while providing consistent, feature-rich services to the company’s clients. The right combination of human and infrastructure investments can not only minimize costs but can also maximize profits. An optimal monitoring solution, for instance, allows administrators to keep track of several environments at the same time, resulting in lower costs and higher yields. It goes without saying, however, that it is equally imperative to have administrators and managers who have a strong understanding of the infrastructure for the optimal utilization of these resources.

Lean, Mean and More Extreme VCs in Europe

Jason Whitmire: This analysis will not come as a surprise to those LPs already invested in the top-tier of European VC – they have seen the transformation of the VC landscape over the last five years from the “inside”. Given however that US LPs are heavily underrepresented in this group, and typically see only the aggregated data on European VC, I believe they will be the most surprised by our findings.

Social Coding and uberApps for App Dev in the Enterprise

With the opening of WANdisco’s uberApps Store, we felt it was a good time to have a chat with David Richards, WANdisco President & CEO.
Subversion has over 5 million installations in everything from one person all the way up to the world's largest development teams with over 40,000 users. Our business model is similar to Red Hat's where we make our money from the top of the pyramid where companies need enterprise-class performance, scale and availability. We also offer a security and access control add-on that gives the kind of audit reporting that Sarbanes-Oxley requires. And we offer professional support for the pure open source Subversion product that gives enterprise the peace of mind...

United Nations UNFPA Revamps Content Management Software

Hi Brad. Thanks for taking the time to sit down with us to discuss your latest win of the UNFPA content management project with Jahia CMS. Tell us about the UNFPA website project. Just for background info, UNFPA is the United Nations Population Fund, an international development agency that promotes the right of every woman, man and child to enjoy a life of health and equal opportunity. UNFPA supports countries in using population data for policies and programs to reduce poverty and to ensure that every pregnancy is wanted, every birth is safe, every young person is free of HIV, and every girl and woman is treated with dignity and respect. The three core areas of their work - reproductive health, gender equality and population and development strategies - are inextricably related. Population dynamics, including growth rates, age structure, fertility and mortality, migration and more, influence every aspect of human, social and economic development. Reproductive health and women's empowerment powerfully affect, and are affected by, population trends. For each core area, UNFPA created large databases.

ERP + CRM 3.0 = SYSPRO Integration Platform for 360 Degree View

Many know SYSPRO ERP, but few know that they actually fully integrate with a home grown CRM solution to provide relevant and effective CRM (Customer Relationship Management) without signing out of SYSPRO = CRM 3.0: Relevant and Effective Customer Relationship Management
The customer is no longer king. With a majority of industries transitioning into online businesses, customers are no longer royalty - they thoroughly research products by reading reviews, watch how-to alternatives and browse multiple stores at once rendering customers the true epitome of an economical middle class.
This shift in customer behavior naturally demands a close pursuit by business owners. Companies need to become more customer-centric in their business approach not only to gain customers, but also to maintain a loyal customer base. And unlike purchasing or accounting departments, sales and marketing departments rarely have predetermined instructions in dealing with customers. These reasons contribute to the growing industry of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems amongst B2B services today.

Cloud9 IDE Showcases Cloud Development Environment for Google Chrome OS

Cloud9 IDE, Inc., a cloud-based Integrated Development environment for web and mobile apps, has announced the private beta preview of its support for the proposed W3C client-side file system standard employed in recent versions of Google Chrome, and full integration with the Google App Engine. The new Cloud9 IDE facility also provides Chrome OS support, making Cloud9 IDE the only way to create applications on Google's CR-48, both on and off the cloud.
The new integrated solution lets you create your development project in Cloud9, and then test and run your code on the Google architecture. With the full support for the new file system (FS), Chrome app developers can cache their files in the local FS API and continue working when they go offline, and then automatically re-sync when they go back onto the Cloud9 IDE, to continue editing in the cloud.

Identify Yourself or “Here's Lookin' at You Kid” with Iris Recognition

When you look at the passenger numbers of high traffic airports today, it is astounding that flights are ever on time. Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL), the world's busiest airport, counted over 89 million passengers in 2010. Beijing Capital International Airport comes in second with nearly 74 million passengers. Yet with ever-increasing security measures, airports are not letting up in their pursuit to further bottleneck the screening process and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) as a whole. Any passenger standing in line, sometimes waiting hours for traditional identity check procedures to take place, knows that transportation security will need a complete overhaul in the near future.

Biometric data collection seems to be the solution, and the international trading of biometric data has been flourishing for years. Since 2005, US passports with facial (image-based) biometric data started to be produced. However, fingerprint, face and voice biometric verification systems are prone to errors, either by false match or non-false match. Security experts agree--iris recognition will be the solution to the dilemma. However, until recently, there were no biometric systems that were appropriate for the particular challenges posed by TSA and the Federal Aviation Administration. The first in-place systems are slow, non-intuitive and inaccurate, or worse-all of the above. Beyond the lack of speed, some of the system's sensors require passengers to have physical contact with the scanner, which, in terms of maintaining proper hygiene, is nearly impossible, especially when you account for the hundreds of thousands of people that pass through an airport like ATL.

This program has been tailor-made to Jahia 6.5 Beta, an open source platform that allows solution builders to develop state-of-the-art web applications with compelling user experiences for business users, unlimited extensibility, and zero-code page composition.
Glenn Korban, the Director of Technology at Oshyn, a L.A.-based system integrator expert in Content Management and Web services, knows exactly what it’s like to be a valued partner of the Jahia team in terms of giving back and expanding the platform’s capabilities. Korban was so excited by 6.5 that he released his own top 5 favorite features, which included the simplified content editing, natural development model, portlets and modules, integration framework and social features.

Software Solutions Make US-Based Manufacturers Successfully Compete

We are talking to Joey Benadretti, President of SYSPRO ERP solutions to discuss how US manufacturer can keep up with the international competition. Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions Joey! Let's dive right in. What do you think is the best way for US manufacturers to remain competitive in today's volatile market?
Joey Benadretti: With an ever-increasing influx into the US of lower-priced merchandise that's being produced in foreign countries, competing on the basis of price is no longer an option. However, US manufacturers can still compete in a way that has undercut other practices and kept competition alive-product differentiation and service.

According to SYSPRO USA President, Joey Benadretti, “SYSPRO STARS FastTrack takes the award-wining SYSPRO STARS methodology one giant leap forward.” He notes that SYSPRO first introduced the award-winning STARS (Structured Technique to Achieve a Rapid Solution) Implementation Methodology ten years ago and has been interactively developing and refining the methodology on an ongoing basis.
Benadretti said, “Studying the needs of organizations migrating to ERP software, SYSPRO concluded that a pre-configured ERP solution would have applicability to more than 80% of organizations and commensurately developed SYSPRO STARS FastTrack, which enables manufacturers and distributors to quickly maximize their investments in SYSPRO ERP software by speeding the implementations, producing a more rapid ROI (Return on Investment.)”

Cloud9 IDE Launches PaaS for JavaScript and HTML5

“It’s ironic that all web and mobile apps written to date have been developed on the desktop,” said Matt Marshall, DEMO executive producer. “Now, thanks to Ajax, developers can follow their users to the web to enhance their productivity with a true, all-cloud IDE.”
On Monday, Ajax.org announced launched Cloud9 IDE, bringing web and mobile app development into the total cloud with a commercial PaaS. Cloud9 IDE provides a cloud-based Integrated Development Environment for JavaScript incorporating HTML5, and supporting Python, Ruby and PHP. Developers can access, edit, and share projects anywhere, to build, test, debug, and deploy web and mobile applications in as little as half the time, with fewer technical skills. Its merger with the Mozilla Skywriter project underwrites the quality of Cloud9 and the breadth of its community support.

Ajax.org just launched Cloud9 IDE, bringing web and mobile app development into the total cloud with a commercial PaaS. Cloud9 IDE provides the first cloud-based Integrated Development Environment for JavaScript incorporating HTML5, and supporting Python, Ruby and PHP. We sat down with the CEO to get the scoop.
We want it to be the premier online development environment for JavaScript and HTML5 developers. Cloud9 aims to be more than an IDE by providing the entire infrastructure a developer needs to start, run and debug a project without hassle.

Sustainable ERP: Joey Benadretti’s Business Profile, President, SYSPRO USA

While they say that experience is everything in an industry as competitive as tech, Joey Benadretti’s 30 years in the industry still comes second to his primary business model: do whatever it takes to make your customers successful. With 25 of those years spent working at SYSPRO, the leading provider in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software, Joey has become something of a household name in the business. But all those years of continuous success and innovation have to come from somewhere, and for Joey, it starts with his customers.
